Barrister & Solicitor Index - 2023-2024
The indices provided are suitable for the Barrister & Solicitor exams scheduled for May/June 2023, November 2023, and March 2024. These high-quality indices have been meticulously crafted by a hand-selected group of students, who worked diligently under the supervision of two Ontario lawyers. You can conveniently purchase these indices from our website, and we invite you to view our sample pages for a preview.
Additionally, we offer some complimentary charts, including a timer sheet and a timeline chart for both the barrister and solicitor exams. However, it is essential for you to verify the accuracy of these charts, as they have been updated by volunteer students and are provided to you as an added bonus.
Pre-Release Information:
Our index goes through three phases of testing. To learn more about each phase, refer to our blog post on quality control. The Pre-Release version is not the official index but allows you to download and explore it while studying. If you come across any discrepancies in our materials, please feel free to notify us. Our team of students will also conduct phase III testing for the index. The deadline for submitting corrections is May 5th. On May 8th, we will send the final printable version of the index to everyone who purchased the Pre-Release version. Generally, phase III testing focuses on fine-tuning the index, and major updates are not expected. The Pre-Release version of the index is locked for editing and printing because we anticipate receiving corrections. To avoid any inconvenience for students who have already printed the materials, printing is disabled until phase III testing is completed.
What Makes Us Different:
Our founders and team proudly associate their names with our products, demonstrating our commitment to quality and accountability.
Community Contribution:
We are the exclusive company that welcomes contributions from the community. If you wish to participate in phase III testing, simply purchase our index and suggest corrections or additional entries. Our team of lawyers will carefully evaluate and incorporate relevant contributions into the final version of the index. The cutoff date for community contributions is May 5th, and we encourage you to consolidate your suggestions into a single email for better organization. You can send your corrections to corrections@lexpd.ca.
What's New:
Our dedicated students have thoroughly reviewed the materials, removing obsolete terms and adding new ones to various sections, including those previously missed. Unlike other groups that utilize hundreds of volunteers, we deliberately keep our team small to maintain consistency in our terms and indexing style.
The Barrister & Solicitor Indices encompass an index for each of the following topics: PR, Civil Litigation, Criminal Law, Family Law, Public Law, Business Law, Estate Planning, Real Estate, and an index for each appendix (Rules of Professional Conduct and the LSO Bylaws). You will receive these indices via a unique download link in electronic PDF format only. The download will include a zip file, which you need to extract.
The indices for the Barrister & Solicitor materials consist of approximately 1040 pages. Each page in the index will have either the letter "A" or "B" next to it, representing the left-hand and right-hand columns of the LSO materials, respectively. The professional responsibility index is identical for both the barrister & solicitor exams due to the identical page numbers and sections in the materials. Therefore, you will need to print this index twice. However, the by-laws and rules of professional conduct are identical in both barrister & solicitor materials but appear on different pages. The index will have one column for barrister page numbers, represented by the letter "B," and another column for solicitor page numbers, represented by the letter "S." The rules of professional conduct index will contain the letters "T," "M," and "B," indicating references to the Top, Middle, or Bottom of the page.

The index is structured so that each letter begins on an odd page number. Blank pages have been intentionally inserted into the index to ensure that each letter starts on the right side of the page. This design allows for convenient use of "A-Z" tabs for each index, whether you print single or double-sided, as the tabs will align perfectly with your index.
Fine Print:
A lot of work has gone into ensuring that the indices are accurate. However, because of the enormous project and the number of people working on them, it is impossible to catch every single error. It is your responsibility to know the material well enough to navigate both through your indices and the exam materials. By purchasing the indices, you agree that you understand the risks involved in using materials prepared by others and Lex Professional Development Group Inc. will not be held liable for those errors. If you do find errors in the work, please e-mail us at corrections@lexpd.ca so we can update the materials for other students.
The indices are sold on the condition that they are not to be shared or distributed in any form or fashion. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions page for details for more details. You are purchasing a license to use the indices for your own personal use only. Prices are subject to change without notice.
